Dear Pillars Preparatory Academy Parents, Students, Staff and Community,
As-salamu ‘Alaikum! We hope that this finds you in the best of health and Islamic spirits as we start the 2019-2020 academic year.
We are pleased to announce that Ms. Abir Catovic has been named the new Principal of Pillars Preparatory Academy. Ms. Catovic is well known to the school community as she served as Vice Principal of Pillars this past year.
Abir Catovic is a firm believer in sound Islamic education and with Pillars turning five this year, it is our hope that Ms. Catovic will help Pillars become a model Islamic school, in-sha’ Allah.
Ms. Abir Catovic began teaching and developing curriculum while attending Rutgers University. Subsequently, she left her engineering career at IBM to help establish Noor-Ul-Iman School (NUI) where she worked for twenty-five years. At NUI, she served in many capacities including Vice Principal and Director of Religious Studies. She has a distinguished teaching record, teaching students at every grade level from KG through twelfth grade. It was in 2017 that Abir Catovic was voted one of the top three Islamic educators in North America (one of three recipients of the 2017 Islamic Teacher Appreciation Awards). Ms. Catovic joined Pillars Preparatory Academy as the Vice Principal in 2018.
Ms. Abir Catovic encourages both staff and students to live a life of no regret by following the prophetic advice of striving to perfect everything that one does – Al-Ihsan. Pillars looks forward to utilizing Ms. Catovic’s experience, diligence, and dedication to develop new educational programming and offerings designed to nurture student character, enhance and increase student achievement, advance teacher professional development, promote teacher collaboration to support the students, staff, and administration and to further develop the community at Pillars Preparatory Academy.
